Well here we are in Asia. It’s month 9, and it’s hard to believe that we are in the last leg of the Race. Back in Romania, it started to hit me that the end of the race would be approaching sooner than I realized-and even sooner than I wanted.
I also realized that the race had become a safe and comfortable place for me. I recognized there was a part of me that wanted to hold on to the race because of a hesitation to step back into “normal” life and all the unknowns there.
But a passage I find myself continually going back to these last few months is Jeremiah 1:12 “For I am watching over my word to perform it.” I know the things that God has spoken to me over the Race, and when I find myself getting caught up in the restlessness of all the uknowns, He keeps taking me back here. I’m SO thankful for that.
Like I said, the Race has become a safe and comfortable place for me. I could probably finish just fine doing what I’ve been doing, but I don’t think He just wants me to coast along. I shared earlier that when we landed in Asia, my bag didn’t arrive. I was hoping, and still am hoping, that it would turn up over the next few days, but that hasn’t happened yet. Thankfully, I had a few extra essentials in my day pack and funny enough my hair products ended up in a teammates bag. I’m guessing airport security did an extra search of our luggage and did a bad job of putting things back together- but hey, I’m not complaining about that one! But if that wasn’t enough, my ATM card ended up getting eaten by the machine the next day!
They say less is more, right? As I’ve gotten comfortable with the “routine” of the race (if you could call it a routine), I’m actually looking forward to being challenged on living on even less. I know He’s going to meet me where I need Him, and hey, He’s already shown up through my awesome squadmates who have been quick to lend me extra clothing and other items. So here’s to finishing the last leg of the Race, not only with great hair, but pursuing the MORE that He has here!
