A couple weeks ago I woke up to a massive thunderstorm. Now, I have seen a storm or two back at home but this was CRAZY. Our host said that the storms here were powerful but wow, that was incredible. The lightning was so intense and bright and the thunder was booming, it sounded like something out of a movie. If you know me well enough you would know that I absolutely adore thunderstorms. Any chance I get I run out in them and dance around or splash in the puddles. Unfortunately it was like 1:40 am when this storm hit so I did not leave because it was dark out, in the bush of Africa and I really did not want to wake someone up to just stand outside in the rain. Anyways, I digress, the reason that I love thunderstorms so much is because it is something so ordinary yet so powerful. I love that they can come out of nowhere and suddenly change the course of someones day. I like to think that God works like that. God is so powerful yet He still chooses to work through everyone. If you are broken, if you are far from Him, if you have the strongest relationship with Him or even if you are “just ordinary”.

During my time on the race the Lord has called me to try and read the entire (or as much as I can get done) Old Testament of the Bible. As I am reading these stories I am seeing that God works through everyday life. I don’t need to have a crazy past or be one way or another, God can and will work in me just the way I am. He can interrupt your life and change everything. I used to think that I needed something special in order for the Lord to work in my life like that but I am seeing that no matter what, He will do something spectacular.

I want to challenge people that read my blog to look for the spectacular in your everyday life. Maybe it was the lady in the drive through who smiled at you or maybe someone waved to you in the hallway at school. Search for the Lord in any and every situation. And if you can’t find the spectacular, be it. Say hello to someone at the grocery store. Wave to someone as you are driving by, sit with someone new at school or at work. The Lord can use you in ways that you would never have imagined.

With all my love,

Liz
