I don’t even know where to begin, the past eleven days have been insane. I have slept in an “airport”, eaten bugs, used buckets to shower and most importantly met my new family. Walking into training camp I was doubting if I even belonged there. Now as I am sitting in the airport, a real one this time, I know that this is something that I am meant to do and that God is going to use me in more ways than I can even imagine.

So, most of you who read my blogs are probably wondering, “What is training camp?” and “What did you do there?”. Well, to eliminate the thousands of questions that I will get asked, at least 999 of them will come from my parents, I will share a brief summary of what training camp is and is not.

Training camp IS a place where you will meet life long friends and spend almost every second of the day with your new family. Training camp is NOT a place to go if you like to spend over 20% of your day alone, you are literally never alone. I shared a tent with one of my team mates who I had met 36 hours prior. You get very close.

Training camp IS a place to go if you like to eat rice. I ate rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner one day. Training camp is NOT a place to go if you a picky eater. Bugs and curry and a 100 year old egg will probably not float your boat.

Training camp IS a place to go if you like ice cold showers, from a bucket, at five in the morning to avoid a line of 200 girls. Training camp is NOT a place to go if you prefer any other type of shower.

Training camp IS the place to go if you like to hike 2.2 miles with a 20-50lbs pack on your back in the heat of the day, uphill, under 38 minuets. Training camp is NOT the place to go if you don’t want to do that. (I don’t recommend it for fun).

I have seen the Lord work in amazing ways these past 11 days, not only in me but in all of my squad mates. I have learned about the cost of missions, how to forgive others and my personal favorite, how to hear the voice of God. I got to hear Him speak and share with some people what He said and have life impacting experiences. Even now sitting in this airport, I got to have a conversation about Jesus with the man sitting next to me. This is only the beginning of a life long journey and I am so thrilled to share it all with you guys. More blogs from training camp and life between training and launch are coming soon !

I can’t wait to go home and take a real shower and not wake up with either a) a pool of water under me b) a person less than two inches from my face or c) 200 girls outside my tent waiting to shower. Although, I’m going to miss my team, see you guys in 6 weeks !

God Bless Ya’ll
