What is “Fun Committee” you may be asking yourself if you were not on Squad U or on the Race at all. So let me answer it for you, I really don’t know myself.

I believe that it is a job that I had along with my squamate Sam Trout to boost the squads spirit and bring fun and joy into our everyday lives. It was a chance to do fun and different things once or twice a month with everyone. So I decided to write a blog about it for two reasons. One, I wanted to remember all of the things that Sam and I put together and two, I wanted to write this to future squads who may want to just spice things up every now and then and show that you can do A LOT more than you think.

So, without further waiting or explanation, here is a list of all the things that we did throughout the race.

Swaziland –

Thanksgiving Day : Turkey Trot and Photo Hunt

     Ice Cream Float Party

Nepal –

Minute To Win It team against team challenges. (With Prizes)

Rented out a club for the night

India –

UNtalent show night (man goofy acts and silly songs were done and sung)

Extreme Capture the Flag (my team won – we bleed orange babyyy)

     Super Bowl Monday (time difference)

Guatemala –

      Chopped

     A huge game of Assassin

a trip to the water park (just payed for some transportation, shoutout to Ashley)

     Goodwill Tacky Prom

Rented out a restaurant with a jacuzzi and infinity pool with appetizers and meal

To any future racers who may come along this and find it, you can do so much more than you think. Make sure you know your budget and if there is extra or cushion room to have a fun committee, but it is so worth it to do fun all squad events.

It has been a blessing and a privilege to be on Fun Committee these past nine months and I am so thankful to have done it. Even if it was extremely stressful at some points and felt like I was planning a birthday party for 50 toddlers once or twice a month. In the end, it was all worth it. Thank you to leadership for giving me this opportunity and thank you to Sarah Z for helping us figure out what the heck this was in the beginning. Until the next event I have to plan, adios !
