So the Lord has asked me to step up. Step up and take on the roll of team leader (I will introduce you to my team soon!). The call of being a leader is essentially the call to be the first to die; die to self, die to expectations, die to my own plans and agenda and die to my comfort. I am so honored that the Lord would entrust me with this position. I can’t do it on my own, but thankfully the ultimate Shepherd in the one who is REALLY in charge.
At first I was overwhelmed by inadequacy, but that is a lack of trust in my Maker.
If I feel the pressure of doubt, then that is a lack of trust in my Provider.
If I give into the lie that I am not good enough than that is a lack of trust in my Beloved.
If I choose to believe that I am too far behind, than that is a lack of trust in my Father.
If I even think for a second that I am too young, than that is a lack of trust in my King.
The balance between pride and humility is an awkward blurry mess. While pride comes before the fall, sometimes I think we can take our “humility” to an extreme of sitting in a “woe is me” pool of self doubt and denial.
This does NOT glorify the father.
In refusing to admit that we are redeemed, chosen, authoritative people, we are refusing His grace and His sovereign decision that we are capable to step up.
The truth is, all Christ followers are leaders. You have the identity of Christ in you, how does that not give you the authority to lead? Matthew 5 says that you are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. We lead with our light seasoned with the salt of grace. You are dead to sin and now a slave to righteousness (Romans 6).
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9
Don’t discredit the Lord for the gifts he has given you. Offer them up to him and USE them for his glory.
Has the Lord given you a beautiful voice? SING with all your might!
Do you love to dance? DANCE like David danced!
Have you been given great strength? USE IT!
Are you able to teach? Open your mouth and TEACH!
Does the Lord give you dreams and visions? SPEAK them out!
Are you a prayer warrior? Then PRAY it out!
Are you a lover of the lost? LOVE with all your heart!
Are you a giver of encouragement? Speak LIFE whenever you are able!
Has the Lord blessed you financially? GIVE and bless others as you have been blessed!
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with all the strength God provides so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”
1 Peter 4:11
Here is my summery:
God has given us gifts. USE them. Since they are God-given, they are not for your glory, they are for HIS. When we faithfully move in the gifts and roles the Lord has given us, His name will be praised. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen!
