We are in Honduras!
Month numero dos.
Zion’s Gate ministry.
Tegucigalpa.
Spanish? Improving….
We have been blessed with another month with the majority of the squad in one location. This is a completely new concept for me thinking back to the first couple of months on my race as my team and I were shipped off hours away from the rest of the squad to the middle of nowhere.
We are working with an organization called Zion’s Gate Ministry that loves on street children by simply living life with them, welcoming them into the community and letting actions speak louder than words in showing the overflow of the Father heart of God.
Kids literally come out of the woodworks, each running up to give us huge hugs and help us with whatever work we have that day.
Ministry varies from team to team. Some have been visiting the hospital to pray and make friends, others have been going to the poorest communities to hang out and play soccer with the kids. Team Metamorphosis and I have been building up our muscles hauling wheel barrels of gravel to make beautiful pathways along the property of Zion’s gate.
Honduras is surprisingly Americanized (North America that is). The mall we are sitting in to get wifi has a Walmart of all places and it is easy to forget where you are until you listen to the language being spoken around you. It is a bit odd to drive down the street and see Wendy’s, McDonalds, Apple Bee’s and TGI Fridays along the side of the road right next to open markets, taco stands and authentic Honduran “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants.
It's a month so different from the last. We are making every effort to stay in the moment and enjoy each day as it is all going by quickly!
Sending love from Honduras!
