Weeellp its official. We have arrived and are in the beginning stages of this madness they like to call the ‘World Race’.  How does Bilbo Baggins put it? “I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve” (yeah.. I googled that).

Well I feel as if I don’t know half of what’s going on half as well as I should like and I care half as much as I should.

Here’s the deal. We have hit the tipping point and it is all about to come crashing down. We have found ourselves in a world of opposites that doesn’t often make sense, yet at the same time we have never felt so at home.

We grieve leaving friends and family, but there has never been so much joy.
We are dieing to ourselves completely, but abundant life has sprung forth.
We are praying for discomfort, for brokenness, for tears.
We have begun, but we haven’t even started yet.
God is wrecking our lives, but in our wake, He is restoring order.

Two worlds are colliding. The comfortable side of me that secretly wanted this all to be a dream is now facing the ever-approaching reality that I will be boarding a plane to India in 2 days. Launch is the point at which all of the anticipation and excitement is finally allowed to bubble up and fill our hearts with the hope in a dream and calling that is about to be realized.

Here is the word of the day:

And this is love, that we walk in obedience to his commands.
1 John 6

This is a culture of people who are head over heels in love with the Father. And He is infatuated with us. This is LOVE. This is the overflow of that love. The fact that each and every one of these world racers has said yes to Jesus and yes to the call to go proves one thing. There is an innate part of us that knows we are loved and who loves earnestly in return.

Here we go. Will you walk with us?

Logistical notes: We are staying just out side of DC in the Holiday Inn! Rumor has it that we will be flying out Friday morning, but true to World Race style, this has not been confirmed. All WR rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. The next couple of days we will be fasting from all electronics (laptops, phones etc) to fully engage in what is happening SO my next post will be from India!

Happy 4th of July! I know it is a favorite holiday of some :). Fireworks may be few and far between this year due to fire danger, but I would just like to say….

Baby you’re a firework.
