We are going on day 11 in Nicaragua… about time to write another blog.

We left Zion’s Gate in Honduras at the end of August to travel to Granada, Nicaragua for our month 2 debrief! We finally found the hot and sweaty weather that I remember so dearly from the race. Ahhhh, humidity…my long lost friend.

Debrief is a time for all the teams to come together to rest and be refreshed every 2 months before heading out to the field again. Our days were filled with team debrief times, worship, and nightly sessions. Although our days were packed full, we managed to find moments of refuge at our favorite Garden Café for free refills of coffee, and quickly made friends with the staff, Ronnie and Diego.

One thing I have learned about traveling with Matt and Dura, is that wherever we go, whether a short taxi ride or dinner, they have the ability to make insta-friends. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy light conversation, but usually I am content with my book and coffee. By the end of the week, it was like leaving our Central American family members behind as notes and pictures were exchanged before saying a tearful farewell.  Perhaps it was our good looks, impeccable Spanish skills and charm that bonded us so quickly, or it could have been a result of going to the Garden Cafe for breakfast, lunch AND dinner every day…

This month, we are traveling around to 3 different teams each.  Right now, I am sitting by a pool, looking over the city of Managua, enjoying the cool evening breeze. Rough life.  The team I am with is fishing for new contacts. Taking the month to research, pray, and take several vision trips to find potential new hosts for world race teams as well as “unsung heroes”.

Unsung heroes are the missionaries who are not necessarily sent by a church or organization. They have a mission and a vision from the Lord and they are serving with out recognition, without funding, giving everything they have in order to be the hands and the feet of Jesus.  Our goal is to find those who have been forgotten, and get them connected.

It has felt like one big travel day as we start many of our days with out really knowing where we are going to end up that night. The Lord continues to provide incredible contacts, hosts, and staff to guide us and take us in.

Thank you for all your prayers! More news to come as this month unfolds!

Sending my love,

Lizi
