I have been chosen to be a squad leader!
What does this mean? Well, true to World Race fashion, this means that everything has changed.
Sometimes when you give the Lord your “yes” it is a process. There is no immediate hint of change, and the beginning seems just as far away as the end. At other times, the moment the yes begins to form in your mouth, you are swept away into action.
My primary ministry is no longer to my team of 5 and the assigned ministry of the month, but to 53 F-squad members.
Instead of staying in one ministry location during the month, I will be traveling within the country (never alone, of course, Mom ) spending time with several teams each month to make sure all is well.
This month in Malaysia, we are “in training” as the old squad leaders will show us the ropes before setting us free next month.
Right now we are in Penang staying at the YWAM base until further notice. We left our ministry location in Uttaradit, Thailand on the 24th of September, took a delightful 24-hour bus ride to Phuket (complete with massaging chairs) and stayed by the ocean for a few days to be raised up to squad leaders. New team leaders have stepped up and several team changes took place as well. Basically, it feels like the race has begun again!
It has been a chaotic whirlwind of change the last week as we are beginning to learn what our new roles are and we are so excited to step out into the crazy new adventures the Lord has for us! Be praying for this new season that we are stepping into this month.
But doesn’t this mean you have to sacrifice what your race originally looked like?
There is SO much joy in this sacrifice, that it hardly feels reasonable to call it that. To watch men and women be empowered and realize their identity and authority is the best adventure the Lord could call me to. I am so humbled that I get to step back and watch this generation SEEK the Lord and go out to bring kingdom on this earth!
