Oh Thailand! The place of Pad Thai, 75 cent smoothies, elephants and lots and lots of smiles. This was one of the countries I was most looking forward to. As month 8 creeped closer I grew more excited. This was our “Manistry” month where all the guys were put on a team for a month to do ministry together and to have bro bonding time. The rest of us gals were divided up and put on brand new teams.

It was going to be great!

Annnnd then my squad leader asked me something I would have never guessed

“We want you to pray about team leading”

Wait…What? I can’t team lead.I can’t be the one responsible for making travel plans and talking to our contact and having to bring info back to the team and don’t even get me started on C&C’s!

Naw I’m good. Thats a little bit more responsibility than I would like. I’m comfortable being the person on the team who makes sure we have spirit nights.

Comfortable…..Crap.

I know Lord I know. You didn’t call me to comfortability, you called me to be stretched, to be poured out, to grow. And I am! See, look I’ve been growing in giving feedback and “saying the hard things in love!”

And beside I’m not a leader.

“You are what I say you are. You are my light, you are the salt, you are my child, chosen and victorious. You are a leader, have been, will be this month, and will continue to be. You have committed to help lead the lost back home. You are a leader. Hey remember one of your favorite scriptures that goes something like you can do all things through me because I give you strength?”

It’s funny how God says the right thing at the right time, like…ALWAYS!

So needless to say the month of team leading was amazing. I learned, I grew, I cried, I bonded with a new group of exceptional women of God who pushed me and called greatness out of me. My team “Mackel-More” was ridiculously fun! (Each letter in Mackel ment something. Example, the M-more miracles, the E- more evangelizing, the L-more love) We had so many adventures from riding elephants, exploring caves, to letting fish munch on our toes (fish pedicures). They were so supportive of each other and really dived in head first with being open and vulnerable.

That month we were english teachers at a school where it was actually their first time having foreigners come in and help. The teachers, students and staff were the most welcoming, generous, people I have ever met! I fell in love with that place. When we left we each probably had about 45 goodbye letters.

Check it out!
