This month I have really wanted to do something with refugees from DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo). It has been on my heart for a while and when I found out there were a lot of refugees here in Rwanda from DRC, I was really excited. I have really wanted to find a way to serve them. It is just hard to do that because they are all spread out over the entire country.

So that has been on my mind a lot this month – trying to get involved with them. Then the other day I found out that there are actually refugees here in Kabuga from there. And there are actually some children in my English classes that are from DRC. It was pretty exciting to hear about that. I have wanted to work with them all month, and now here they are in my class every day. I love how God works out his plans for us. He put it on my heart, and then he made it happen. Not in the way I expected, but in a way that is probably far better than anything I would have done myself.
My team is a big fan of declarations. I have a lot of them written down, that the wonderful Julie Lortz gave me, and we say them pretty much every day. They are basically sentences that declare what you know is true and what God can and will do for you. Each of them has a scripture reference with it. A couple of them have really stuck with me the past couple of weeks in Rwanda.

I expect to have powerful divine appointments today to heal the sick, to raise the dead, to prophesy life, to lead people to Christ, to bring deliverance, to release signs and wonders, and to bless every place I go.

(the book of Acts)

I speak to this day and I call you blessed. I declare that I serve a mighty God who today will do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all that I can ask or think. I say you are a good God and I eagerly anticipate your goodness today.

(“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Ephesians 3:20)

God HAS given divine appointments to us. He HAS a plan for us that WILL come to pass. He HAS blessed us abundantly. He HAS done exceedingly beyond what I thought possible.

I’m thankful for the unexpected. I’m thankful for a creator that cares for us and has a plan for us. I’m thankful for his love. I’m thankful for his blessings and goodness in my life.
