So I meant to do this update weeks ago, but I’ve been getting sidetracked easily lately. Better late than never, right? I was getting really frustrated with my support account the last couple of months, so I decided not to check it during the month of June. It was actually kind of refreshing. I didn’t worry about it and just let God take over. I finally checked it on my birthday – I figured it could be a birthday present to me. So here is what I found out.

Total Raised: $7,586.57 (minus recent checks not sent in yet)

Left to Raise: $7,213.43

Yesterday I started this fundraiser at church. I got up and said something (and I may or may not have been shaking a little bit because I HATE public speaking) and then handed out the miniature M&M tubes for people to fill with change and return to the church. But I was just overwhelmed with support. I haven’t really been around much since I have been gone at school for the last few years. I’ve been there this summer, but I don’t really know a lot of the newer people at church anymore. And then there are always the normal ones that have always been there that I have known forever. But it was just crazy how supportive they were. I mean, I guess I should have expected it. They have already been super supportive so far, but its different in person. It means so much more for someone to tell you that they are praying for you and that they are proud of you than to see it in a note on the support page.

As I was standing at the exit next to the pastor, people just kept telling me that they would be thinking of me when I was gone and wishing me luck. It left me kind of speechless. I was handing out the M&M tubes for them to fill with spare change, but several people even gave me money right then. I wasn’t expecting that. I guess I’ve kind of been in this doubting mind set the last week or so and God definitely showed me this morning that he provides. He stirs love and generosity in the hearts of his people. (After I send in the money from today, I should have around $8,400 – not including any M&M tubes that come back in.)

(The one where we were all looking at the camera was really blurry. It gave me a headache to look at it – so I figured it wasn’t a good idea to put it on here. But he’s pretty much my favorite. And so is she. So I really wanted to put a pic of them up!)

Also, I recently found out what our first location is going to be. My team will be going to Kakamega, Kenya. It is in Western Kenya close to Lake Victoria. We will be working with Logos Celebration Ministries International. We could be doing anything from house to house evangelism, hospital ministry, children’s ministry, mercy ministry, teaching, church planting, or other things. I leave August 1st for Washington, D.C., so its coming up really fast!
