So, I'm not very good at talking about myself, but here it goes! I grew up in a semi-small town called Belton, TX. I was raised on a farm, so I absolutely LOVE being outside and being around animals of all kinds. I used to think I wanted to be a vet, but then I realized I would have to take science classes to get there, so I thought twice about that.
My family went to church every Sunday when I was growing up, and the church I went to was mid-sized, so I am pretty close to many of the people there. I love all of them with all of my heart. They are some of the most amazing people I know. I say that about pretty much everything in my life, though. I exaggerate a lot. But they really are amazing and loving and fabulous.
I am about to graduate from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Ministry to Children and Families in August 2011. But since that is when we will be leaving for the World Race, I will not be attending my graduation. I'm not concerned about it, though. I feel that following God's will is so much more important than going to a ceremony.
I have spent the last two summers of my life interning at Dry Bones Denver. They work among homeless youth in the city of Denver, loving the kids there and building relationships. That experience has shaped and changed me more than almost anything in my life. The staff and the street kids there have taught me more about God than I have learned in 21 years of going to church. I have learned more about love and grace and reconciliation in my two summers with them than I could ever imagine I would have. I love them so much! I am sad that I am not going back this summer, but I am so excited to see what God has in store for the next year of my life!
A few things that I love: the outdoors, running (its new), hiking, cold weather, CHRISTMAS, my friends, reading, journaling, pictures…
A few things that I don't really like: ice cream, scary movies, hurting people, school, driving, being called Elizabeth…
Last thing…one of my favorite quotes is from Mother Theresa in A Gift from God:Prayers In Meditations.
"To show great love for God and our neighbor we need not do great things. It is how much love we put in the doing that makes our suffering Something Beautiful for God."
