Like I said in another blog, we are doing a lot of teaching English this month. Its probably my favorite ministry so far. (I’ve really enjoyed our other ministries, but I just really really love this one.) Every morning, we go and teach English to the nursery school at our church. Its mostly 3-6 year olds. Then some evenings we go and teach English to adults.

I started teaching the top class at the school yesterday. There are about 6 kids in the top class who are getting ready to go primary school. I have loved working with them. I really enjoy seeing them really learn, something they have not fully been able to do mixed in with younger kids. There is one kid in particular that really makes me smile. Every time I ask a question he is the first to answer. And when he doesn’t get it right, he is so disappointed. Its so obvious that he really wants to learn. I really enjoy working with them each day.
The other day I also got the chance to help one of our friends with English. We were having a little down time before our evening ministry and he asked me to read with him. He is trying to get better at English. So we read through an article that he had with him. We would read a paragraph and then make a summary of it. It was awesome seeing when he really got it.

The first time we taught adults, I wasn’t a big fan of it. I enjoyed teaching the kids so much that I really wasn’t into teaching adults. It was so different. But now I’m seeing how much I like doing both. I like being able to read with people and helping teach them how to sound out words and sounds. Teaching children and adults are so much different, but they are both great ministry times. I’ve really grown to enjoy doing both. I have never really liked teaching until now. I felt like I was never very good at it. It was hard for me to come up with fun things to do with the kids and keep them engaged. But this kind of teaching I have really enjoyed.
