Once we were done encouraging our contact and prayed over him. We were set to go out and say our goodbyes to the people we had come into contact with over the 3 weeks.
We started at the youth center where our friend Jessie (our contact’s daughter). We were able to pull her aside from her work for a quick moment and just encourager her and pray over her. We were also able to give her a letter that we had written for her to remind her of her idendity in Christ and her purpose their in that community. She is the light in the darkness for the children and youth to see.
We then went to our contact’s wife, Emoriah and was able to present her with her first bible of her own. We each wrote in this bible encouragement, reminder of her role as the mother of that community, and for her to continue to grow deeper in love for her heavenly father. It was so beautiful to see her recieve from us and for her to accept the challenge that was set before her to love the women and children in the community in the same way that we modeled for her. When we were leaving, she walked inside and eagerly was reading the words we wrote to her in the bible. It brought a smile to my face.
Then we went ‘up-town’ to see the remaining women. It was convient that 3 of the 4 ladies we wanted to see were all in the same spot. We spoke life into each of them, prayed over them and said our goodbyes.
The final house I went to was Loretta’s. She is the woman who leads worship and plays the piano-and one of the backbones for the church. We were able to encourage her in what she was doing for the people of that community. We were also able to continue to love her through her current struggles with her son. As we were there, the rest of her family was also there. We were able to pray for all of her immediate family members and to strengthen and encourage them as we were leaving. We prayed that from that household the church would blossum.
Overall it was a very encouraging night. Though we were saying goodbye, we were able to find peace in the process. Most of the peace was knowing that we are leaving this community in good strong hands. That the small time we were there with them, was able to equip them and strengthen them with the necessary tools they need for their ministries in front of them.I cannot wait for the day when this little community will be known world-wide for what they are doing for Christ!
