Last friday night the women of Holy Fire had a girls night out. We left the boys at home, loaded up in a van, and headed out to a village. Let me tell you, the women of Holy Fire know how to get after it. We were welcomed into a Pastor’s home and we were offered fruit immediately. (Indian women are the most hospitable women in the world!) We thought we were here for a discipleship/small group thing but after a few minutes we were ushered into the street for house visits. After 6 months on the race you really learn how to roll with the punches. We visited house after house hearing the words “just one more house…” as we walked on to the next. We prayed for healing, hope, faith, and more of His presence and after two houses we had a small party following us. After what seemed like a speed round of house visits it had gotten dark and we were brought back to Pastor’s house for dinner.
Girl talk and giggles accompanied with obscene amounts of curry were enjoyed and before we knew it the ladies of the house were fixing us up with flowers in our hair. A photo shoot followed shortly afterward, obviously. After eating and laughing until our stomachs hurt we were brought back to the church for the service. Tonight we had a worship leader with us and the change he made in the atmosphere of the church was remarkable. All of us girls were bobbing and bumping trying hard not to break out in dance (they don’t really do that here in India). Erin brought the word and then I felt lead to bring a word as well. I might have broken free of Indian tradition but sometimes we need to shake things up right? We invited them to pray as we prayed over them and just waited for the Spirit to move. Before we left we laid hands and blessed every single one of them before we were rushed to drink chai and jump back into the van.
That is one heck of a girls night out huh? Thanks Angela for the pics 🙂
Fundraising update! I have ten days, yes only ten days, until my final deadline. I still need $3,900 to be fully funded which means I only need 79 people to give $50. Help like sharing, liking, tweeting, pinning, and emailing like crazy to help spread the word. Thanks friends!
