Dear Baby Jacob,
 

Little precious baby. Although you are only 4 days old you are already more valuable than rubies and gold to the Most High King. I am so incredibly humbled that I was the one chosen to pray a blessing over your life. I can’t believe God chose me to speak those blessings when have done nothing notable myself.


 
I prayed that you would grow strong in the Lord and that your mouth would speak life rather than death. I prayed that you would grow strong in the Lord and your feet would make the gates of hell tremble because you will bring light. I prayed that you would grow strong in the Lord and that your eyes, barely having seen the world, would see God and all of his goodness. I prayed that you would grow strong in the Lord and your ears would be sensitive to his voice so that your work would be effective and God ordained. I prayed that you would grow strong in the Lord and that laughter would flow from your mouth and your heart because the Lord is good even when life is not.
 
I prayed that your mother and father would raise you in the ways of the Lord and that you would be wise enough to listen and obey. This brings glory and honor to your heavily Father and will bring blessings to you as well. I prayed for faith beyond measure and boldness that would bring many to know the Father.
 
Although I prayed all these things I want you to know why I choose to name you Jacob. Five days after your birth your mother still hadn’t chosen a name for you and allowed my friend and I to name you. After praying over you I thought about Jacob and how he wrestled with God until he received a blessing and asked if your mother liked the name Jacob. I pray that you never settle for just enough of God to sustain you but that you seek and hunger for more forever.  There are infinite amounts of God to experience because he is an infinite God and he loves to lavish his kids in his love.
 
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time now and forever. Amen.
