Because of Carnaval our hosts were out of town, so my team (Radical) stayed with another team (Hijas del Rey) for a week in Uyuni, Bolivia. As we joined them a little bit for their ministry we got to know the pastor and people from the church they would be interacting with.

When we mentioned we were going to Llica for our time in Bolivia, we kept getting the response, “You’re going to Llica?!” So naturally, I was kind of scared. We knew beforehand Llica would be very remote and in the desert. But with the response we kept getting I was expecting the worst of the worst.

When we got to Llica I felt such incredible peace about our month and had no clue why everyone was giving Llica such a bad rap. During our time in Llica we taught English at a primary school and was able to teach a religion class at the high school.

The English classes were awesome and we were able to connect with the kids pretty quickly. During our religion class the kids had a lot of good questions about Christianity and the class went way better than any of us expected. We had this one girl, Maribel, who was so intrigued that she came over later that night to spend time with us and ask us questions about Christianity. It was awesome. Having a 15 year old girl want to hang with a bunch of Americans she just met–clearly God was at work.

Before our time in Llica ended we were able to give Maribel a Bible. She was thrilled and said she would read it every day!

I loved our month in Llica. My team has grown as individuals and as a team and it’s awesome to be a part of. God is good.

Trujillo, Peru is next! Stay tuned for more.
