This month in the beautiful country of Costa Rica my team is doing Unsung Heroes. We get to travel throughout the country looking for different ministries that could potentially partner with The World Race and host future teams.
Jesus led us to a small beach town on the Caribbean side called Puerto Viejo. We came across a blog talking about a woman named Veronica who owned a hostal and restaurant called “Veronica’s Place” and also had active ministries in the area.
We decided to get in contact with her to hear more about her story.
Veronica Gordon grew up in a Christian home with her descendants being Jamaican. She is very proud of her culture and continues to promote, “Family, health, and culture.” It was during her childhood where she learned about natural healing and continued to pass it on to her children and to anyone who wants to change their lives in a healthy way. Along with what she has learned from her descendants, she believes what the Bible says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.
Veronica and her husband, Delroy, are very active in the community, which includes: community service for people in the community, being very active in their church, through their restaurant (one of the few in the area offering vegetarian, vegan, and raw food), living accomodations, Caribbean cooking classes, volunteer projects, breakfast with the family, and tours of local attractions.
She is such a beautiful woman of God with such a huge heart. Having future World Race teams come would be such a blessing to her and her family.
If you ever find yourself in Puerto Viejo, bring it on down to Veronica’s Place! Great food, great times, great people.
