The World Race. Holy mackerel. What an endeavor. Eleven countries in eleven months. This type of undertaking was not something that I would have considered on my own. It certainly isn’t a concept I could have come up with on my own. It’s a task. It’s an exercise in faith. It’s training on living boldly for God. It’s an adventure. But most importantly, it’s God’s calling.
Up until a few months ago I was unclear of what the future held for me. I wasn’t sure how to proceed with the goals I had in mind. I wanted to travel, I wanted to work, I wanted to go back to school. I had all these plans and no clue how to execute them. I’ve been out of school for a year and I was seriously starting to feel that itch to make up my mind and do something big with my life. Then, by the grace of God, He called. He called me out of my complacency and my confusion. He called me into a ministry so outside of myself I’m going to have to lean on Him for everything. Jesus called me to focus my eyes on him. And that’s when I learned that this is exactly where He wants me.
“… You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven. Then, come follow me.” Luke 18:22
The mission of the World Race is to serve “the least of these”, serving, sharing, growing, living as examples of Christ and glorifying God’s name around the globe. God wants to use me on the race to reach those who are hurting in ways that I have never encountered. He wants to use me and my fellow racers to spread the hope of salvation and the freedom He gives with eternal life, to show the world that God is real, God is here, and God is working.
“In my anguish I cried to the Lord and He answered by setting me free” Psalm 118:5
