It’s time to get packed up and ready to go to Georgia for about a week of more training then off to Thailand on September 9th. Thank you for all your support, the t-shirt sale and other donations have been coming in from left and right…thank you so much!
For the past week or so I have been thinking what I should and should not pack. I thought it would be pretty easy because I have done this before but I always over pack and over prepare for things. My sister and I were talking about taking something of my nephew’s (Alex) with me. We thought about one (of many) of his monkey loveys we named Marcel (after Ross’ pet monkey on Friends). He has about 7 so he’ll probably not notice one is missing. In high school for Spanish class I did a project with something called Flat Stanley, where you take a cardboard cutout of a man and take pictures with him everywhere you go. I will be doing that with Marcel the monkey. Wherever I go…elephant riding, tiger petting, cliff jumping, etc- Marcel will come with me and I will capture Marcel’s time overseas with me. When Alex gets older, it could be a great way to explain to him the different countries, cultures, and why I was there…and plus his bff Marcel has been to all of these places which I hope he thinks it’s cool!
I am excited to see how this plays out! Even if he gets upset that I stole his Marcel to take with me, I am thankful I have something to take with me that reminds me of him. Join with me in this, if you have any kind of idea for this please let me know!
Here is a picture of me, Alex, and the Marcel I am taking on the race. Keep updated on this blog, Facebook and my Instagram: lizcaddell to see the adventures Marcel and I will have in the next 9 months!
