“If we haven’t impacted the community then we have been a failure”
Said Highlands missions coordinator. “I consider my Job to be an opportunity to step out of our typical way of life, our western way of life to where our focus is ultimately on the one we serve”. Our goal, our desire is to see the people of Jinotega completely revived. We want to be able to do something that will break down the walls of culture and religion and we want to make relationships ultimately showing the love of Christ.
A way that Highlands missions does that is by hosting work projects all over Jinotega. They reach out to farming communities, They manually build and install water filters in homes, They make it possible for entire community’s to have clean water my building healthy septic tanks and installing 10,000 gallon water tanks with filter included. Also they come along side local pastors and help build churches in the smaller villages outside of Jinotega. They also host teams from the states and various other places who have partnered with them to do these projects.
It has been a blessing to get to spend a few days with the staff of Highlands missions, learning about who they are and what they do. The accommodations of living they offered were superb and they went out of their way to make sure we were safe and comfortable. Highlands missions is looking forward to partnering with AIM in the future.
