Since I was accepted to the World Race in July I have had so many people comment, “Lisa that’s amazing, awesome, etc. I could never do that.” Well this isn’t about some amazing thing I am doing. It’s about the Lord knowing that I need this. The World Race is about the Lord calling me away, hemming me in (see Psalm 139:5), understanding that I am prone to wander.
The Lord sees my heart and knows that when I have the opportunity to choose between the comforts of life and wholeheartedly seeking Him, I will almost always choose my comforts. So, He is stripping me of my comforts. He is giving me a year without those comforts to learn to depend on Him, to learn to love Him.
The World Race isn’t something amazing that I have chosen to do. It’s the way the Lord has chosen to save me- save me from a lifetime of comfortable Christianity, save me from missing all that He has for me, save me from complacency. I need the World Race to learn to love my God, to learn the sufficiency of His presence, and to learn to walk in fullness of His power and truth.
