My time at home has been flying by! It’s hard to believe that one month from today I will be leaving Atlanta, meeting my team in Miami, and preparing to head down to Palenque, Mexico. Most things in my life seem to fit into two categories right now: saying goodbye to life here and preparing for the race. So, this month’s update is going to follow those categories.

Saying Goodbye
This has been a month of goodbyes. I had a couple of friends from college (Bri and Bev) who came to visit this month. It was a great time of catching up with them and getting a chance to say goodbye before heading out to the field.

I also had the chance to say some Atlanta goodbyes this month. I was able to go to F.L. Stanton (the school where I taught) for their May Day celebration It was a great chance to reconnect with my co-workers and to say goodbye to my students. I spent Memorial Day weekend in Orlando with some of my favorite Atlanta ladies. We had a great last girls’ road trip! Thanks to Rich & Charity (Steph’s cousins) we were able to spend the weekend at Saratoga Springs Spa & Resort right in the middle of downtown Disney. It was a great getaway and much fun with my Atlanta girls!! ☺

World Race Preparation
My team & I have been fasting together. We are spending this time seeking the Lord that He would speak to us and prepare our hearts for this upcoming adventure. For more information about our fasting, check out my previous blog A Time of Fasting.
Of course I am continuing to raise support. As of today I have raised $8,395.60 in cash ($11,095.60 total with cash and pledges). This means I still need about $3000. Please pray that the Lord will open doors and build connections for support. Thank you all for your support and prayers so far. If you are interested in joining my World Race team financially, please click the “support me” link on the left hand side of this page. Also, be in prayer for my teammates. We have financial deadlines approaching on June 1st and 15th. I have met these deadlines, but many of my teammates are still seeking the Lord’s provision in this area. Please join me in lifting up their financial needs for this trip.
I am also trying to do some cultural training for the countries that we will be visiting. I went to my friends, Lily & Joe’s house for Thai cultural training. Joe was a MK (missionary kid) who lived in both Bangkok and Chang Mai, Thailand. Joe cooked some traditional Thai dishes and taught me about Thai culture. I practiced learning Thai phrases (which is really difficult since Thai is a tonal language). I think it is going to be hilarious to hear my first attempts! Thanks to Joe I now have Thai phrases on our ipods so I can practice for the next few months. I also enjoyed just spending time with them and eating delicious Thai food!

Please continue to pray for my team and myself that we will be diligent in seeking the Lord and that we will say goodbye well to our friends & family.
