Like many of us we have heard the Good Samaritan story in Luke 10:25-37. One of the things that drew me to the WR was seeing things of the bible played out because I believe that God is very active and working today. So as the girls and I were walking through the market the other day there was a woman lying in the path. She looked dead but all people were doing was walking over her. I said to the girls, “This is the Good Samaritan and we must do something.” We needed to find out what was wrong or what happened and some men said she had been drinking and was passed out. As we were looking at her I realized she was blind. We all had a heart to get to her a safer spot and lay her on her side so if she threw up she would be able to not choke on it. As we were caring for this women tons of people started crowding around us. (In my head I was thinking… why didn’t anyone care for this woman before? Why do they care now?) In Luke 10:27 it says, “And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” This means to love that lady as if it was myself and if it was me then I would be praying that someone would care for me. So as a team we moved her in the middle of this huge crowd to a safer area. None of the people working at the market wanted her by their stand because she was an inconvenience. As we moved her to a cement slab away from the market people the crowd came around her and some were making fun of her and taking drinks of Gin to throw it in her face what she had done. It was a disheartening situation but thankful that we were there at the right time!
Also, reflecting on this experience made me think of God and how much he loves us and picks us up after we fall and make mistake after mistake he still continues to love us. I am thankful for a God like that one who is our perfect example, one who shows us how to love. how to do what is right, and have a heart like his. Thank you Jesus for being our perfect example and for using us to do your will.
