PLEASE… Forgive me for not getting a blog up since I was accepted on the World Race… Needless to say Student Teaching has consumed me.

Even though I have not actually sat down to write this blog, I have been praying about what to first write about and I thought no better place than at the beginning. I want to share my past missions trips and how God has brought me to where I am today.

My very first mission experience started off in 8th with a group from my church. Our site was located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois. Being from a small town in Wisconsin; Chicago was a bit of an eye opener for me. Each day we went to help at a day program where children got dropped off and picked up from when the center opened and closed. I saw children sent home each day with their parents who were leaders of gangs, drug dealers, and the list goes on.  As we were there to help advert young children from the evils of gangs and drugs; I have met young child who changed my life forever. His name was Edwin and I have never felt such love for a complete stranger in my young life. Each day we went to this center in hopes of helping out in any way we could and in turn this little boy helped me recognized God’s love for everyone and how unconditional his love is.

After my first trip, I then went on to travel to Colorado, West Virginia, and Trinidad once in high school and again in College. Through each mission trip God revealed a new characteristic of who He is to me. After I came home from these trips, I found myself wishing I was back in those places because not only did God teach me many things, his people taught me what life is really about. It is about Living for Christ and making the things that really matter in life a priority. These people were happy with a dirt floor, water, food, and loving community. This spokes volumes to me and really made want to be used by Christ in any possible way.

In my last semester of college, I am student teaching and preparing for this upcoming LIFE CHANGING experience. I am ready to be broken, stripped of all I know, and rely only on my Lord and Savior. I can’t stress enough how honored I am to be able to go on this trip and looking back now I see how all of these mission trips have come together to make one girl with a heart to serve God’s people. I will do whatever it takes to make sure each person I meet knows that God’s loves them and has a plan for their life.

Thanks for reading my first of many blogs and feel free to e-mail me or contact me through this blog.

None of this would be possible without God and you! Thank you for you love and support!

In Him,

Linsey Thomas
