On earth as it is in heaven…
Reflecting on the week long training camp I feel emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained, and yet I couldn’t be more eager for this adventure that God has prepared for me and the W squad. We had a week filled with getting rid of the old and making room for the new person that Christ designed us to be.
One theme that seemed to be consistent the whole week was “On earth as it is in heaven” and Mike, the founder of The World Race, said “We are hurrying to get to the kingdom when Jesus wants to bring the Kingdom here.” These words are encouraging to me because this will be a year devoted solely to bringing the kingdom to earth. The staff and previous world racers were at training camp and I loved hearing about their experiences and life after the race. They all adjusted differently but saw God do truly miraculous things. For example, some saw how God healed broken limbs on a person and saw God’s power when a dead person came back to life. I don’t know about you, but that would radically change my life. I think that a lot of times we put God in a box and we know he can do things but we never truly give him a chance to or speak as if he WILL do it.
Another opportunity that I was honored with this week was being able to lead a group of five lovely ladies. We are going to called Daniel. We chose this name for many reasons but to give you a jist of what we were thinking about was the kind of man Daniel was in the bible. He had tremendous faith and no matter the situation he chose to follow God. We also met a waiter on our “make a memory” date as a team. This waiter touched our lives and made our day most memorable and as a team felt a great connection with this single father of a sweet baby girl. Being honored with this leadership role, I am looking to God for all my strength. During the week two verses really touched my heart… The first is Isaiah 42:1 “Look at my servant whom I strengthen” this verse means a lot to me because God will be my sole provider of strength through ALL situations. I yearn to lean on God for ALL things and feel truly blessed with this opportunity. Lastly the other verse that played a huge role in my week was Matthew 5:14-15 “You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” This world race squad is going into the nations to be lights of Christ and Christ should be so viable that people cannot help but know that we have Jesus in and through us.
