I didn’t know what to expect before walking into the boys orphanage in Bolivia… We were greeted by a lady named Kimber who runs the orphanage… She began to explain more about the orphanage and mentioned that most of the boys that were there had HIV because other places did not want to take children with HIV so that’s why she opened this home. She mentioned that she is trying to encourage mothers who have HIV and are afraid to have children to adopt children with HIV. She also said that children with HIV and not wanted and if they can’t find homes for the children then new children cannot come into the orphanage. She turns down calls every day for new children. When I saw these orphans I was overwhelmed with love and compassion for them… I was thinking about how God feels about these children… He thinks they are perfect. He has washed them clean and He knows each one of them intimately. He has taken care of them so perfectly by providing a Christian orphanage for them until the right parents come along to take that precious child home.
If I didn’t have nine months left on the WR, no money, or a place to live, then I would adopt. A little boy named Matos won my heart. He waddled over to me and fell into my arms.. When I looked into his eyes, I thought how could this sweet little boy had no earthly mother or father that wants him…This little boy has changed my heart…The joy that these children have amazes me. The boys look out for one another and share a special bond. I hope to adopt someday and take children from orphanages into my home and make it theirs. There are too many kids out there without homes… The thing that really hit me was that when these kids get past the age of staying at the orphanage then where do they go? Where do they go for Thanksgiving? Christmas? What home to do they come home to?
I hope that some of you who are reading this prayerfully consider adoption… As Christians we should especially be doing this… God has blessed us in our lives so abundantly that we need/are called to share it with others. We are to love like Jesus loves and that means taking children out of these situations and providing them with loving homes. God adopted us into his family and we can/should do the same with orphaned children around the world. I know that God is going to continue to work on my heart in this area… If only I could bring children home with me from every place I go…
In John 14:18 it says “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” I love that God takes care of every one of his children.
Thanks for reading and letting me share my heart!
God bless you!
In Christ alone,
