Hi there
I have a few updates that I would love to share with you!!
I am 25% fully funded and counting!
I just want to say THANK YOU!!! Thank God for all my friends, family, and divine encounters have I made in these last weeks! Thank you for sharing about my mission trip. My first deadline of my fundraising goal of $5,000 is September 23rd and I have full expectation that I will exceed my first goal before the deadline!
My launch date is January 7th or 8th! We have had two countries changes. Instead of going to Greece and Botswana, we will be going to Albania and Zimbabwe. God knows what he is doing with these changes. I cannot wait to see the lives that will be impacted for the kingdom of God while doing ministry at these two countries.
In grad school I was recommended to read a book called “Who moved my cheese?” This book talked about how to deal with change in your life. Change is inevitable. You can’t avoid it or run from it. In life you will experience many levels of change – Family, career, relationships etc. However, you have to decide how you handle change. Honestly, I love change when it is convenient to me. However, that can be a hindrance to my personal growth if I don’t embrace it. I want to get better in embracing change even in the most uncomfortable, inconvenient, and unexpected situations. I believe 90% of how I embrace change is based on my attitude and perception.
Last year, one unexpected change that occurred to me was when my entire department from my previous job was laid off. In the natural it appeared to be a blindsided situation. A couple of months before, God had already prompted me about changing into a different position but I was comfortable in my position. I was not going to move until I felt like I was ready. God is a gentleman and He will give you opportunities to take but He will not force you to do something outside of your will.
NEW FLASH – GOD IS ALPHA AND OMEGA -WHEN GOD TELLS YOU TO CHANGE OR SHIFT, HE TELLING YOU FOR A REASON SO GET OUT OF YOUR CONFORT ZONE AND MOVE!
That exact morning before I went into work God reminded me of Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” When I heard of the sudden news, I was shocked but I peace during that whole situation. Even when I wasn’t ready for change, change came! I trusted God and experienced Him as a GOOD GOOD FATHER that led, guided, and provided for me during my uncomfortable change.
The problem that happens when you don’t yield to change, you can get left behind. In the book “Who moved my cheese”, There were two individuals that always went to the same location daily to get their “cheese”. Cheese can represent your career, your finances, and your family – anything familiar in your lifestyle. One day when the two individuals came to that exact location for their “cheese”, their “cheese” was gone!! Both individuals had the same reaction – confused, sad, angry but different actions. The 1st individual decided to get out and look for new cheese in a different location. He walked for miles and miles but final he found a new supply of “cheese”. The 2nd individual didn’t want to move. He stayed in the location and he became obsolete to change!
I think of the story of Elijah in First Kings 17 when there was a drought in the land. Daily God provided a brook with water and sent ravens to bring meat for Elijah. When the brook dried up and the ravens stop, Elijah heard from God to move to the next city. Elijah had a choice to stay or to move! Elijah was subject to change and listen to the voice of God. In that new city he was able to stay with a widow and her son. Not only was Elijah able to get meal but also God was able to provide a year worth of food supply and use Elijah to heal the widow’s son! Talk about a double blessing!
Sometime our change is not for us but it is for God to move us to a new place for someone to experience God through us!
I believe my change in life and career was not just for me but for God to move me to an unfamiliar place to be a light. Because my “cheese” was moved, I was able to seek God for his next move in my life. It was during that time God was showing me what He wanted to do through me. Before I was laid off from my job, the World Race was already a conversation starter with God but then it became even clearer to me! I was ready to pack up and Go!
I thank God for change – even when least expected. Change can be good! When God makes the change, He already makes a new way!
So “Who moved YOUR cheese??” I honestly don’t know who move it, but the next time change happens (because change is inevitable) keep the right attitude, listen to God for your next matching orders and just GO. It could be God urging you to move out of the box of familiarity and move to a place where He can use you.
