This year I had a great and wonderful opportunity to celebrate my birthday in Vietnam. Celebrating your birthday in another country for the first time is such a great experience. No, I couldn’t physically be with my friends and family from home or get my free Grand Slam from Denny’s, or Cami Cupcake but I know I was exactly where God wanted me to be on my birthday. Being with my team truly made my day! Since I am in a small town in the mountains of Vietnam and I had ministry for the day ,it’s kind of hard to “go out” on my birthday! It’s the simple but thoughtful things that count!

Here are 28 things I did on my birthday

1. Started my day with Prayer
2. Birthday Workout
3. A nice run in the village and 28 reps of jumping jacks, sit-ups, and lunges


4. Free breakfast from my team – that egg sandwich was the bomb!
5. Have Allison as my personal videographer for the day
6. Fundraiser/birthday photoshoot with my team

7. Free ice coffee from the café
8. Got a surprise birthday cake from my team

9. Have team time prayed for each person on the team
10. Played cards
11. Got handwritten birthday cards (those are my favorite)


12. Ate a lot of Oreos and chocolate
13. Listened to 7 years old by Luke Graham
14. Listened to Allison play the guitar
15. Braided Janibel’s hair
16. Rode a bike

17. Taught English class to Vietnamese children
18. Taught the Barney “ I love you”song
19. Played Jenga


20. Ate a Mango
21. Enjoyed 1pm afternoon shower
22. Enjoyed the rainbow after the afternoon showers

23. Went with Hilary and Anna Beth on an evening adventure
24. Made homemade brownies
25. Afternoon nap on my sleeping pad
26. Ate traditional Vietnamese food for lunch and dinner
27. Spoke with a few family and friends
28. Ended my day thanking G0d for another year with full expectation that 28 with be a great year with many adventure!
