This month I had opportunities to meet a lot of people in Thailand. I spoke with Christians and non-believers. When I ask the Christians if any of their family members were Christians too.  One common phrase I heard was “No, I am only Christian in my family.”  I know their is nothing new under the sun but the reality is Buddhism is highly engrained in Asian culture and the fact is they are the only light in their family. One college student expressed how it is hard to be a Christian because somethings she feels alone and being a Christian is dishonoring to her family.

These Christians are this month MVPs!! In the moment of feeling all alone I pray God covers them with a peace that passes all understanding.  I pray their faith in Him will be strengthen daily, they will be bold and courageous to talk about Jesus.  They will continue to be a light in dark places.  I pray for their families heart will be soften to hear about the Good News of Jesus.  I pray that God brings a community of believers in their circle to encourage them so they don’t have to do life alone but have family in the body of Christ.

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs27:17

During campus ministry and street evangelism I realized there are a lot of Thai people want to believe in Jesus however they want to put both Buddha and Jesus as number one. They want to have go to heaven but they believe it all works base to go to heaven.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians2:8

They have a lot of fear and uncertainty of getting into heaven. We explain that Jesus can only be first place in our hearts and unfortunately they turn away sadly and reject him. This reminds me of the young rich ruler. The young rich ruler came to Jesus asking what must he do to get eternal life. (Mathew 10:17-27) When Jesus told him to sell everything and follow him, the young rich ruler departed sadly away from Jesus.  The fear of dishonoring their family or losing tradition is what keeping some people away from making Jesus first place in their hearts.

My prayer for these unbelievers that God remove any blinders from their eyes. Open their eyes of their understanding. I bind any stronghold that is trying keep them from the truth and good news. I pray they have a radical experience and encounter with Jesus so their lives will never be the same.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.   2 Chronicles7:14
