HAPPY 4TH of JULY
Before I start – Emily and Sara will like to say the pledge of allegiance.
Today Team Warriors has officially made it to Athens Greece!
Here is a glimpse of our Travel day to Greece on the 4th!
Our Month 7 on the Race will look different from the other months thus far. In the previous months, when going to a country our Squad leaders would already have our ministry host, lodging, and fairly everything planned out for each team.
This month is called “ATL”. Jokingly I thought we were going back to Atlanta, Georgia for the month!
ATL means “Ask the Lord”. We were not given a ministry host, set-up sheet, or lodging. But we are given room for God to lead us and show us what ministry and country He wants us to serve.
Our squad met up in Macedonia for debrief for 4 days. During debrief we were given a three hour time frame to figure out where and what we will be doing this month. As a team we took some time in prayer to see where God was showing us.
What we heard regarding ministry – a lot of us had commonalities like women, discipleship and Syrian refugees. As far as country/city – initially some of us got different countries and some didn’t get a specific location. However we talked about it together and prayed specifically on a location. Separately, we wrote the country on a piece of paper and the majority vote was Greece.
After figuring the country, now we had to find lodging on our own. You would think that is pretty simple – but it’s not. Especially trying to find a place to live comfortably and staying on budget for 8 ladies! Before leaving Macedonia, we didn’t have a place to stay in Greece. But we still left in faith. My prayer was Lord, before we get on the train to Athens please have a place available for us. And I must say … like always – God came through! Literally, right before our second train took us to Athens, Michelle and Lindsey were able to get a nice Airbnb! Whooa!
During my prayer time I felt God was telling me that He is giving us a chance to choose and he will honor it. I am going to use everyone strengths. Everything will make sense. I will walk with you step by step. If I tell you or show you everything at once then you will take control and not seek me for your daily bread”.
I was reminded of Exodus 33:15, “Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”
As a team we are flexible, adaptable, and willing to go where God is leading us. This month is going to be a prayerful month, listening to God voice daily, giving space for Holy Sprit to go before us to open up doors, meet new people, show God’s love, and show them the Christ in us.
This is how we can live our life with a mission-mindset. Doing missions doesn’t have to be so deep but it is so simple to Ask the Lord where do you want me to serve for a week, month, or year. It can be long term or short term.
This month the sky is the limit! I will not put God in a box. Instead, I will let go of my own agenda, and give him space!
