Our squad was a part of The Awakening with three other squads (I Squad, O Squad, T Squad). The Awakening took place in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We stayed at the Overflow Hostel, which is under Adventures in Mission. This was a three day event of sessions, worship, missions, and networking.
“Jesus is free but Christ will cost you everything” was the quote that stuck with me. I think of the scripture in Luke 9:23
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Accepting Jesus (salvation) is free but to go out and follow him will cost you. Honestly the thought of this can be scary! Cost me what?? My life? my family? my own plans? I just wonder to what extreme! Overall it is all about the trust factor! I have to trust that God plans are better than my plans and I will submit to it! (Selah)
On a litter note, I enjoyed getting to know other Racers. It was great to get a fresh perspective from other Racers that have been on the mission field longer than me.
One of my favorite part of The Awakening was the mission project. All squads partnered together to help fix the road to the hostel. It was hot but fun to do missions in a tangible way.
