For the last four days we have been staying with the Miyoshi Family. They are the cutest little family that consists of two parents and two little girls, Hiyori, age 4, and Torico, age 1 1/2. They live in an apartment about ten minutes from the preschool. We have been so blessed by this family as well. They have open up their home to us and strove to give us an authentic Japanese experience.
Akeme, the mother, is an amazing mother and woman. She has the challenging job of balancing two lively little girls and running a household. She is also a fantastic cook. In the last four days we have had traditional Japanese pizza, crab soup, homemade sushi, Italian pasta and Indian curry. We have talked about family, friends, Christianity, Japan, America and many other things. She is always looking for ways to help and serve others. She has been such a joy to get to know and cares about people so deeply. She has a history with Christianity. Her parents are both Christian and she has been exposed to church for a while. Please pray for her that God can touch her heart.
Akeme’s husband is a great man. He works for a bank but makes sure to spend as much time at home as he can. He is very care free, loves life and knows how to have a good time. He’s also quite nerdy which Rebekah thorough enjoyed. They talked anime and ninjas and got along well. He and his wife both didn’t speak English very well but they tried really hard to communicate through dictionaries, online translators and iPhone apps. There was a lot of technology going on at dinner.
Hiyori and Torico are some of the cutest little kids I’ve ever seen. They love to play together, laugh a lot and fight like sisters. They definitely night owls and often went to bed after Rebekah and I did. They are very adventurous and don’t take no for an answer. The first day we were staying with them we came home to find Toricos new hair cut a la Hoyori. It was extremely short and patchy and every time Rebekah and I saw it we could not help to chuckle. They were super cute and so much fun to live with.
The Miyoshi Family was so great. They took us to the cup of noodle factory, had great discussions about the gospel and life. We loved to talk together, laugh and learned about each other’s lives and culture. Plead pray that God grows the seeds we planted and that the spirit moves in their hearts!
