Today is all I have

Right now, in this very moment

I ask myself, is tomorrow actually guaranteed to me?

Have my ideas of the future ever gone the way I planned?

I pray for clarity, and He makes it very clear to me…

Today is all I have

Right now, in this very moment

Why do I worry about tomorrow?

For I can not control my future

I reflect and look deep within my soul

My soul longs for surrender, to let go of what was & accept what is

Falling more and more deeply into the present

Today is all I have

Right now, in this very moment

Therefore, I find peace in the present

I breathe in slowly, the undeniable joy of the Lord sweeps over me

Because I know the God who breathes life into me,

I walk with confidence and gratitude

I surrender to my will, allowing His will to be done

Today is all I have

Right now, in this very moment

I seek the Lord with all of my heart

I can not afford to lean on my own understanding

I must stay grounded in the presence of the Lord

For as the heavens are higher than the earth

So are His thoughts and His ways higher than mine

Today is all I have

Right now, in this very moment

In the now, I have a choice

In the now, I choose surrender

In the now, the Holy Spirit guides my path

And in the now, I am truly free

Verses that inspired this poem:

Matthew 6:26-27 ; 33-34

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?…
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

James 4:13-18

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 55:9
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalm 19:8
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.

Psalm 119:45

45 I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
