Come rest
Come rest in Me
I’m yours and you are Mine
Come find I satisfy
These words have changed my perspective completely, and I knew from the first time I heard Satisfy by WorshipMob that this would be my first personal blog. My thoughts are scattered, so bare with me!
Back story – Driving around at night is not something that is foreign to me. I drive to clear my head, to form my thoughts, to explore, or even build relationships. I am a firm believer in the fact that the best conversations happen in the car, so it’s no surprise that’s what a friend and I found ourselves doing on a Thursday night. It’s also no surprise that Thursday night turned into a worship jam session, which lead to me discovering these words of such a great song.
WorshipMob does a fantastic job of creating music that consists of God’s voice speaking to us. As the lead singer sang through the first chorus, he sings of God telling us to come rest in Him. This made me begin to think of how often I come to The Lord for rest. Not only does God bring energy and life to us, but He is also able to rest and restore the soul. How cool is that?? Matthew 28-30 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” In the midst of fundraising deadlines, trying to find all the right gear to pack, working full time, etc. There is so many times where I forget that I am not in this alone, and that God is here to carry that load of stress. His burden on us is so light. God’s vision and path for us is not made to be stressful, because while there will be trials, He is always there to lean on and to carry the load.
“I am yours and you are mine.” I’m sure that many of you, like myself, have heard this so many times in pretty much every church song. However, it wasn’t until a few days ago that I processed this phrase. God is saying this to US. People of sin, mistakes, fears, and mess ups. “I am yours and you are mine.” No matter what I do or how many times I fight against Him, “I am yours and you are mine.” So many times I pray “Lord, I am yours… Lord, I am yours…” over and over, but He is not a selfish God as he says the same thing right back. How crazy is it the The Lord of the earth wants to be ours MORE than we want to be His! I am so grateful that in the next nine moths of foreign things and many trials, my God wants to be mine and walk with me through every moment.
He satisfies. He satisfies. HE SATISFIES! That person you want to be, he satisfies that desire. The love you crave, He satisfies that need. As for me, I want to know every detail of His plan for me. The Lord has been gracious enough to slowly teach me to trust because His plan, no matter how unexpected, will satisfy more than my own plan will. I want to do most things by myself, but God has shown me that community will satisfy what is missing when I try to carry the whole load. Psalms 22:26 says that “The afflicted will eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD Let your heart live forever!”
Well friends, that’s all I have. I am so grateful for all the love and support I have received from each of you. Feel free to check out the song that inspired this blog, and WorshipMob in general. They’re fantastic! Also, it would mean a lot if you would subscribe to my blog! It’s totally free and is an awesome way to keep up with me in this next season.
All the love,
Lindsey
