I haven’t written a blog about what I’m doing in a while. I really have been struggling to come up with something to write about. South Africa and Swaziland were both great experiences – I have met so many great people and have some awesome memories. But how to tell them and express them all here has had me stumped. A very wise woman once told me “Just tell them what you know.” So this is what I know…
I know that….
… God provides the little things and the HUGE things
… having running water is wonderful and having clean water is a blessing
…using a squatty potty is not the worst option
…being clean is a relative term
… making friends is as easy as playing cards
… rugby is so much better than american football
… you don’t need as many clothes as you think
… all you have to do is show up
… there is a very real darkness in this world and it has tricked people into throwing their lives away
… there are parts of the world where people aren’t obsessed with the latest apple products aannddd they don’t know what an Iphone looks like or know what wifi is
… some of the ways America influences the world is NOT positive
… there is a greatness that lives in the smile of a child
there are 21 year old women who must move with their mother far away from their home so that they can be a care taker for their mother while she is at a rehabilitation center
… giving hand outs is not always the best way to fix a problem
… having faith like a child isn’t simple or easy
… ever at feeding centers children go home hungry
… we don’t always have the answers
… you don’t need words to communicate
… sometimes good intentions don’t always turn out well
… even though they are young, children have taught me hoe to choose joy
… having no idea what is going on isn’t the worst thing
… in some countries just the fact that your skin is white means that you are promiscuous
… at the end of the day, there are not a lot of things in this world that are in your control.
I know that these last 6 months have been the best I have ever had.
I know the next 5 will be even better.
