I have fallen in love with Cambodia.
the way of life here is just so epically different from what I am used to. We are living in a village. Life here is so much simpler, quieter, and slower.
They kill the chickens in the morning that provide us with meat for lunch and dinner.
The rice at every meal – really every meal we eat rice – is rice that they have grown and harvested themselves.
Any food that is not eaten at meals is fed to the multitude of ducks, chickens, and dogs that live here.
There are daily chores that need to be done – everything from helping cook to cleaning the bathrooms to sweeping the classrooms.
If they need help building something? The neighbor can help. Just give them a chicken as payment.
Need to shower – NBD there are huge urns on the side of the house filled with rain water. All you need is your shampoo, condition and a bucket.
Need the grass to be cut? Just let the cows hang out in the lawn for a couple hours and they'll get the job done.
God has been challenging me on the way to live life or at least my perception on how to live my life. For example Vuthy says that Saturdays are off days. So what does he do? he takes a nap in his hammock and takes the day off. I need to get better at living like this – taking days off. Allowing myself to live slowly and not always be rushing around and working all the time.
