I know I haven’t blogged yet but that’s because I really didn’t know what to say. So here is something for everyone so you can have an idea of what has been going down with my World Race and it’s going to be really scattered brained and random. First off we spent like 4 days at a nun convent in Hydrabad, India then we took a sketchy 7 hour bus ride to Vijayawada, India but only to find out that we needed to be an hour away in someplace called something, Station. So we got on another bus (which by the way these buses made the Montgomery public transportation system look like a Mercedes). Anyways we eventually got to the orphanage and it was amazing. They were all waiting outside in lines and had made us welcome signs and they had dances and a ceremony prepared for us. It was amazing.
The orphans are awesome. I love every one of them. Every time they see one of us they yell our names and then ask us to sit with them or hug us and literally any attention we give them, they just eat it up! They are all gorgeous too! They all look like little Indian dolls. They all have ridiculous stories and are completely independent. They do everything from waking up on their own to cooking their own meals and washing their own clothes. The older girls and boys show the younger ones how to do stuff but that’s pretty much the only guidance they have since the orphanage is only ran by a man and his wife and their son. They have 3 teachers that come in a few days a week but other than that it’s just them.
When I found out I was coming to an orphanage I was so excited because I thought I was going to be teaching the children but God works in ridiculous ways and these kids have taught me so much in the past week. They all worship God with everything they have and they are serious about it too. It’s not just something they have seen someone do, it’s actually coming from their hearts. And I can’t even begin to describe their prayers. I want to cry every time I hear one of them pray. They all pray for everyone and our families back home and if one of us is sick they are sure to pray for them ALL THE TIME. Not to mention these kids are complete servants. They all rush to us to bring us water if we are hot or if we are sitting on the ground they make us get up so they can wipe the floor off so we can sit back down. Which I am pretty sure they learned all of this from the family who runs the orphanage because they have treated us so amazingly since we arrived. They are such genuine people and truly love God. When they speak its always heartfelt and you know they know the word, it’s not their ideas, its strictly scriptural.
Oh and my team is amazing. Literally I couldn’t have asked for a better one. God planted these people in my life for specific reasons. Our team leader John is ridiculous and he pushes me more than anyone else ever has. He is always challenging us to dig deeper into our spiritual lives. Lauren is amazing; she’s definitely my spiritual mother here. She always has suggestions and sets an amazing example for me to follow. Anne is the cutest Canadian everrrrr. She taught me how to play the guitar a little bit and she is so encouraging and loving. Allison is like a sister. She is always really quiet but when she has something to say it’s important and you should listen. She preached the other night and did such an amazing job, she had every ones attention.
Hopefully this helps everyone see where I’m at and what I’ve been doing. Keep praying for me and my team J. Thank you to all of my prayer warriors and my financial supporters!!!
