I met Navy during my first day of teaching English in Cambodia because she was the translator for one of my classes.
Navy is sixteen years old and has been a christian for one year. Her story is a testimony of what God is doing through the ministry we were apart of in Cambodia.
Our contact, Vuthy, used to be a tuk tuk driver until a YWAM team showed him the love of Christ. He then sold the only thing he had (his tuk tuk) in order to pay for bible school. After Discipleship Training School, he felt the Lord calling him to do ministry back in his home village. After asking his parents for permission to use their land three times, they finally said yes. He started up a church and an english school, and began inviting the local kids.
Navy was one of the first students. She heard about Vuthy's school from a friend. She really wanted to learn english because, in Cambodia, knowing English can open up a lot of opportunities for good jobs. Her familt had a lot of problems. She was a middle child in a family of four children and her parents were farmers. She didn't have a lot of friends and wasn't doing well in school. But after attending Vuthy's english classes, that began to change. She began hearing about the love of Jesus and God began transforming her heart. God began giving her a dream for her future- to be a translator and missionary.
Although she is still young in her walk, Navy knows the most important things. She knows that no other god can save her or bring her lasting satisfaction. She knows how good God is. And she knows that God has big plans for her future, which is why her studies have become so important to her.
Navy's family is still Buddhist, but her prayer is that they will all one day come to know the transforming love of Christ.
When I asked Navy is there was anything she would like to share with you, the readers of this blog, her answer was simple but sweet. "God is everything. God can do all things. And I want to meet you all in heaven."
My response to her answer: "Ditto."
