Happy Belated Easter!
Our Lavtian Easter was wonderful. It started with a group of us going to a baptist church. We found out about this church because one of our squadmates was sick and had to go to the hospital– she had trouble finding the right one to go to though until a few friendly Latvians helped her out. These Latvians ended up being Christians and invited us to church and translated for us in the balcony. They then invited us back to the church that night for dinner and worship– Yes, that's right, they cooked dinner for all 48 people on our squad!! It was such an wonderful blessing.
After dinner, we worshiped with them and 6 of my squadmates got baptized. It was an incredible day, filled with so many reminders of what Christ did for us. Not only did he make the ultimate sacrifice, but he also demonstrated that we should be able to sacrifice for one another. Last night, ten or so Latvians sacrificed their time and money so that some Americans could have a good meal and a place to worship.
Oh, and I completely forget to mention one more thing: Seeing as we just came from warm Africa, we were unprepared clothing wise for snow, so our Latvian friends collected warm clothes and gave them to us. God is so good!
