TEAM SHEKINAH
GLORY
MONTH 10
RIGA, LATVIA
1. Befriending a tiny, 80 year old Russian woman. The first time we met her, we gave her food and she told Michael she could beat him up. The second time we met her, she spent five minutes complaining about the bread we gave her. The third time we saw her, I gave her honey and she said she didn't want it if she had to pay for it. I told her that just like Christ's love, the honey was a free gift for her. She has warmed up to us everytime we've visited her and I am hoping to see her again at the end of May.
2. Getting to meet Asuma. My squadmate, Ashley, met Asuma on one of our first ministry days and it's an incredible story that you can read more about (http://ashleybreitnauer.theworldrace.org/?filename=god-amidst-grief). On one of our last ministry days, I got to go with Ashley to meet Asuma, and I was incredibly blessed. I got to to share with Asuma that our relationship with God is like a marriage. You won't know everything about your husband the day you get married to him, so you are taking a risk when you say "I do", but with God there is no risk. I told her that He desperately wants her to say "I Do", but she is scared. Pray that Asuma will have the courage to say, "I do" to God.
3. Taking a beggar woman out to lunch at McDonald's and encouraging/praying for her for an hour
4. Getting to hang out with and encourage my translator after the Mcdonald's excursion
5. Speaking at a Youth Night- I shared about how God has been reminding me what Kingdom community really looks like and how I can better love and serve those around me.
6. Seeing the Baltic Sea and having dinner with our translator's family.
7. Segulda: My team spent 5 days in the town of Segulda where we helped out at different evening programs at the local church.
a) I got to help lead a night for Junior Highers that included balloon games and a lesson on giving our burdens to God.
b) I led a game of "Egg, Chicken, Dinosaur" at Sunday school and then Andrew and I shared silly world race stories with the kids.
c)We were blessed with an incredible dinner and breakfast by our new friends
d)We played 20 rounds of "around the world Ping Pong"- I won three rounds (the most of by any of the Americans!)
8. Easter Sunday: Our Second day in Latvia, where we were incredibly blessed by an awesome church (read about it here http://lindseyfarmer.theworldrace.org/?filename=a-very-merry-latvian-easter)
9. Handing out bread to strangers (http://lindseyfarmer.theworldrace.org/?filename=the-baltic-bread-project) On our most recent baltic bread adventure, we met an Indian woman that was so sweet and wanted her friends to share in her blessing- we got to quickly share God's love with those five more women and seeds were planted.
10. Turing 25! (Read about it here http://lindseyfarmer.theworldrace.org/?filename=my-birthday-in-latvia)
