Today is one my favorite days.  Why you may ask?  Well first let me give you the back ground story.

I placed an order for some “Threads of Hope” bracelets with a special lady, named Ate Erra. (Ate is pronounced “ah-tay” and means “big sister.”) She is a mother of three small children and three adult children, and sometime ago her husband died.  The only way she supports her family is by making and selling bracelets.
When I first put in an order with her I asked how much I will need to pay her.  She answered, “However much you would like.”

Then a few days later I went to pay her for the bracelets, she would not let me pay because she would prefer for me to keep her in my prayers instead of me blessing her with a little more than three dollars.
I really wanted to bless her and her family with gifts.

Today I went into town with this in mind — to buy a few items she needed. I only bought a little more than ten dollars’ worth of items. Here in the Philippines ten dollars can buy you grocery items, educational items, and a nice purse.

Then later today I went to her home and blessed her with these items for her and her children. She thanked me several times!

On my last Sunday at Aninuan Christian Church, I saw Ate Erra with her new purse.  She was so happy and again kept thanking me for it.

On my very last morning as we were pulling out onto the road, Ate Erra gave some of my team members bracelets and asked, “Where is Ate Lindsey?” She came to give me one last hug to say goodbye to me.
