Apparently I start most of my blogs with the word so, sorry bout that.  Anyway its been a lovely month here in South Africa for our team, we have been able to spend lots of quality time, with each other and with our contacts, we have picked a lot of weeds and shoveled a lot of dirt, we have what we affectionately call the TTT (tank top tan), and for the most part are loving every minute of it.  There are obviously moments when we want to be able to leave our little compound, when it would be nice to be able to go somewhere else without having to ask our contacts to bring us.  We love them and during this time they are trying to rest and recuperate from a tough year, so its just hard sometimes because we so don’t want to be a burden to them but we also need time away from our house, even if its just to go grocery shopping.  Life on the World Race is sometimes more about learning patience in the down time and finding things to do with teammates than it is about being super busy with ministry.

We had such a lovely New Year’s Eve/Day with Erika, Louis, Mike, & Jeannine.  We had a South Africa braii (barbeque) with sausage, pop (which is basically grits), and this tomato/onion sauce that was ridiculously good.  Then we had a worship session, followed by some communion and then Louis prophesied over each of us.  It was so awesome to hear Louis say so many of the things that we have been discussing and praying over as a team, as well as things that have been spoken over us before.  It was such an incredible way to end the old year and begin the new one.  I for sure want to make communion part of my every year New Year’s Eve celebration.

This week is our last here in South Africa and we are sad to be leaving but excited to see what comes next for our team as we head to Mozambique.

Jesus time:  Over the past week or so the Lord has been bringing me to all kinds of Scripture about light, being light, being children of light, etc. and while I gather the general gist of that idea I still feel like He is trying to tell me something more.
I’m at the beginning of My Utmost For His Highest, which I started in May last year, its strange to starting it from the beginning this time.  This devo has been such an encouragement for my teammates and I throughout this year, Oswald has some good words.  You should check it out.
