So the other day our teams went to visit this huge Buddha statue on top of a mountain. It had been raining most of the morning and we weren’t sure we were going to make the trek about an hour away from our house and walk around in the rain. But we really wanted to see the statue and be able to prayer walk around it. Its so easy to want to prayer for God to just knock down all these statues, all these idols that people have built to false gods, but my squad leader Kristen raised a valid point as we were discussing our time on the mountain as we made our way home. She said that even as she thought to pray something about wanting to destroy the huge statue, God reminded her that unless it in some way could lead people to the knowledge of salvation then it was just power for powers sake and that just isn’t His character. When He displays His power it is to lead His people back to Himself.

We then started discussing how only one percent, ONE PERCENT, of Thai people know about Jesus. So as we were discussing some cool ways God could bring His name glory in this country we decided that it would be awesome if the king of Thailand became a Christian because he has such great influence over all his people and could spread the Gospel so quickly throughout the whole country. But then I thought, when does God ever do things that we see as the easy way? We are doing the exact opposite of that by bringing the Gospel to the prostitutes of Thailand, these women are oppressed; the lowest of the low, the bottom of the social order, and these are the people that He are bringing the message to. God doesn’t always work in ways that make sense to us, sometimes He works in exactly the opposite way that makes sense to us. But I know that the Lord is going to use these women (previously of Bangla Rd.) and make them the leaders of His Church in Thailand. How cool is that? I don’t know what the timeline looks like, but who does? Only God can see His plan working and through that His redemption of the people of Thailand. These women are the future of Thailand and I can’t wait to see how He uses them to bring Kingdom to this incredible country.
Ashley and I with a few of our friends!
Love these ladies! please keep Bangla Road and the women who work there in your prayers.
