Hey friends, other racers, and family!

I am Lindsay Shurtz as you can tell from my page (and yes, my last name is pronounced like shirts). I am 18 years old and just graduating from Jackson High School in Jackson, GA. We moved to Jackson three years ago because my dad is a pastor so his boss gets to move us around. So, I was born in Lexington Kentucky and have moved quite a bit around the upper half of Georgia. I feel like I have grown to be a pretty good “new kid.”

I have been on mission trips to Honduras each summer since I was 13. I fell in love with the people, community, culture, and language. I love every experience that allows me to connect with people and impact their lives. During my mission trip after my freshman year of high school, I was introduced to a family who lived in the capitol city, Tegucigalpa. Long story short, we became friends, and we both decided that it would be a good opportunity for me to live with them as a foreign exchange student for the next school year. My sophomore year of high school I lived in Honduras and went to a christian bilingual school called, Academia los Pinares. That year has so far been the best and most influential time in my life. It has led me to grow in so many ways I could not have begun to imagine. Having that past experience, has encouraged me to trust God once again by taking a leap of faith to join The World Race.

Among the I love to travel, hike, explore, try new foods, and “put me on an airplane leading to anywhere” part of me, I have some average qualities too. I love to play any sport, but soccer and volleyball are my passions. Growing up around a pool, I would consider myself a mermaid. I like to bake, so I am always in need of friends to share the goodies with. Hopefully, I will continue to further my ukulele talents. Lastly, I love people! Most of my friends say that I have way too many friends, but hey, I am always looking to add more.

I can’t wait to take on this incredible journey with so many amazing people, and I hope everyone else will support me by your prayers, advice, time, money, and love. Thank you to everyone who has helped me thus far and will continue to impact my next chapter in life.
