would you rather….F squad edition

So-the World Race is not as glamorous as it may seem. We have well, some say, eliminated our expectations and lowered our standards. These are some actual events that we as a squad have experienced. Hope this gives you a little chuckle and a glimpse of what its really like on the world race!

1. Would you rather have a fan or food? 
2. Have a cockroach in your bed or a cricket in your pillow? 
3. Have AC that explodes randomly in the middle of the night or no ac? 
4. Have your shoes stolen or sunglasses?
5. Sit in the victim circle for three months or fake being okay?
6. Break the two drink limit or the dating rule?
7. Crappy WiFi or no WiFi at all? 
8. Have lice for three months or malaria for 4 weeks?
9. Bed without AC or AC without bed?
10. Stuck in a compound w or tent for a month?
11. No AC or no Wifi?
12. No coffee or instant coffee?
13. Cool new pricing that forms a boil or an infected tattoo? 
14. Someone steal your big pack or day pack?
15. Have diarrhea in a squatty potty or outside?
16. Free bed in your dorm room with the whole squad or pay extra for a private room? 
17. Preach on the street corner for ministry or carry poop buckets?
18. Lose your hydro flask or break your chaos?
19. Fall asleep on a random guys shoulder or sit really uncomfortable avoiding any contact the whole bus ride? 
20. Would you rather have the head of fish or the feet of a chicken in your soup?
21. Have no translator the whole race or someone who butchers it?
22. Team phone or no phone at all?
23. Close the door to keep the bats out or open it to let the rats out?
24. Stop brushing your teeth for a month or use a toothbrush you dropped into the squatty potty?
25. Perform a dance at a water park or sing a song at church?
26. Shower with the lights off & pretend there are no spiders or shower with the lights on to see where the spiders are?
27. Ruin your $5 blow out or wear a little plastic bag on your head in the rain? 
28. Not shower or use gutter water during a rain storm?
29. Sweat profusely all night in your tent or sleep outside with a slight breeze and be eaten alive by mosquitoes?
30. Carry the poop buckets and have it spill on you or be the one to pour the poop bucket on the plant and still get it on you? 
31. Have lice or pick the lice?? 
32. Malaria or typhoid? 
33. Have mystery meat for dinner or be told it’s dog? 
34. Suck the diseased water out of your phone so it works or let it die? 
35. Have rats crawl on your tent or break your toe from killing the rats? 
36. Have a terrible host and great living conditions or a great host and terrible living conditions?
37. Have a 6 hour church service or a 3 hour kids program? 
38. Use google translate for your sermon or have a translator that accuses you of being a drug addict? 
39. Cook for your team and figure what and how to make it or have your host cook and try to figure out what they just made you and pretend to enjoy it? 
40. Have 40 leeches bite on your feet or 1 leech on your privates?
41. Stung by a scorpion or stepped on by an elephant?
42. Have a 13 hour flight or 25 hour bus ride?
43. Have 72 hours of diarrhea or 3 months of infected ear piercings?
44. Fit 8 people on a tuk-tuk or take a public bus in India?
45. Lose your day pack or big pack?
46. Constant marriage proposals or marketplace harassment?
47. Listen to Hamilton for 4 months straight or analyze enneagrams for 4 months straight?
48. Get your appendix removed in Asia or break your ankle in Africa?
49. Wash your clothes in alligator infested waters or not wash your clothes covered in your own bodily functions?
50. Use a pen or twig to mix your coffee?
51. Use a smelly quick dry towel for a year or use a smelly toilet for a year?
52. Give an hour sermon on the spot or lead a spontaneous worship session with no musical talents?
53. Go a year without alcohol or coffee?
54. Pray for a bike a cinderblock or a goat?
55. Diarrhea outside or pull your poop out of toilet by hand?
56. Lose eyebrows to face mask or bit by scorpion?
57. Lose your phone in a cab or an airport? 
58. Check each chip for ants to finish your salsa or no chips and salsa at all? 
59. Get rammed by a cow or be late for team time? 
60. Search all around town for electrolytes or have to drink said electrolytes?
61. Straddle a squatty to shower or make eye contact with male squad leader while showering? 
62. Wipe with your hand or not at all?
63. Boundaries or dress code talk?
64. Only person who hates physical touch or only person who doesn’t?
65. Squad wars again or fitness hike?
66. Kill cockroaches or every other bug? 
67. Give up comfort when following the Lord’s plan or being too scared to try? 

The cool thing about the World Race is it pushes you wayyyy out of your comfort zone and forces you to gross in a short period of time. The comforts of home are stripped away and you have to rely on the Lord and your community around you. Sure, our standards have significantly lowered, but our lives are so enriched with all that we have learned this year. 

You don’t have to do the World Race to be pushed out of your comfort zoneso my challenge to you is to do something radical that scares you. The Lord will be there holding your hand & it’s a super exciting journey! Just do it!
