What is your rock bottom?

Is it failing a test

Losing a friend

Not making the team

Or getting into the school

Failing a class or even out of school

Getting kicked out of the house

Having your family reject you

Is it spending another day or week on the couch numbing out the world

Eating another tub of ice cream

Binging another Netflix series

Is it another party you don’t remember

Waking up in someone else’s bed

Is it another night you don’t remember

Or not wanting to remember another night of dumb mistakes

Or is it dancing for money

Twirling around on a stage with hardly any clothes on

With a man who spins you around night after night

Selling your body

Or using an old man for money

Is it conning people

Fooling them to do what you want

Pushing the ones who love you deeply away

Seeing people for money and that’s all

Is your rock bottom going to a strip club

And spending your money on women

A lonely life lead to using women or men for their bodies

Or is it spending another lonely night watching porn to satisfy that itch

Is your rock bottom when someone takes advantage of your body

Waking up not knowing what happened yet knowing exactly what happened

When every ounce of your soul feels like it is scattered on the floor

Your body abused by the world

Is it a positive pregnancy test

Terrified

Alone

Or is it a miscarriage

Maybe an abortion

Free yet trapped in regret

Is your rock bottom divorce

Or lack there of

Stuck in a marriage

Or even just at home

Verbally, physically abused again & again

Is your rock bottom selling drugs

Getting caught

Going to jail

Overdosing again

Being held as a ransom for money

On the run once again

Having no where to call home

Is your rock bottom murder

Trapping kids to sell their organs for money

Raping someone because that’s what happened to you-all you know

Is it going back to those friends who get you into trouble

Going back to that life you tried to leave

In a gang

Trapped

Is your rock bottom your kids not wanting anything to do with you

Your family running away from you

Alone

A prayer I have continued to pray this month is for the girls and customers in the dance bars we go to is that they hit rock bottom.

That they hit their specific rock bottom.

That rock bottom where people run to Jesus.

That rock bottom when you crave change.

That rock bottom when you know there must be something else.

Something more to this life.

To this broken world.

This is why I’ve been praying this. Not because I want these beautiful humans to hurt-but because rock bottom is what it takes for most to meet Jesus. When people finally let Him in to piece things back together.

John 4:1-30

The woman at the well. She was divorced five times and living with a man who wasn’t her husband. She went to the well hoping she wouldn’t run into anyone-she is Samaritan. Jews didn’t speak to Samaritans at this time. She just wanted to get water and go as fast as she could.

She was left five times, not just by husbands-who knows how many men-rather people-rejected her. Told her she wasn’t good enough. Unworthy of their love. She was trying to find herself in men. Humans. Bound to fail time and time again.

This is where she met Jesus. In the scorching heat. In the middle of the day. At a well.

Her rock bottom was 5 marriages and countless boyfriends later. Finding her worth in her body and whom she was with.

Jesus saw her. He knew her. Her soul. Her heart. Her mistakes. Her beauty. He made her and desires a relationship with her.

Jesus called her out, gracefully of course.

He met her where she was at. At the well-her rock bottom.

And then he started a relationship with her. A friendship. He pulled her out of her mess, out of the well, when she thought there was nothing better in this life for her.

Are you at your rock bottom?

Are you close to it?

What would rock bottom be for you?

What would make you turn around and run towards Jesus?

Towards your maker.

Your creator.

Your Heavenly Father.

If you’re at the well, trying to hide-know Jesus is there. You just have to look up.

He sees you. He knows you. All you’ve done. Every mistake. All of the good, the bad, the dreamy & the ugly.

He wants to save you.

To keep you from hitting rock bottom.

Look up.

He’s there.
