Plot Twist- I’m still in America!

After a lovely 12 hour day at the Atlanta Airport, Qatar Airways sent us to a hotel and gave us food vouchers.  We ate like the Kings and Queens we (think we) are with a whopping $45 food budget.  It was quite the upgrade from our $5, courtesy of you lovely donors!  Swallowing a live goldfish was totally worth it… Fear not- I’m not complaining but this morning’s breakfast buffet was pretty sweet!

This said, I’ll give you some insight into our day at ATL.

8:00 a.m. Wake up to Juliana speaking in a weird voice saying, “Squash to Broccoli.” (if you know, you know).

8:43 a.m. Actually get up out of bed. Why are mornings so hard?

9:15 a.m. Walk to Shell station to buy coffee AND a Poptart. Treat yo’self.

9:37 a.m. Squad meeting.  Our fabulous Logistic-ers give us the game plan and put us into airport shuttles.

11:01 a.m. Arrive to ATL Domestic terminal.  Immediately walk to T.G.I. Friday’s for endless apps- $10 for all the food I can eat? Yes, please.

1:33 p.m. Yes, you read that right- I did eat for 2.5 hours and no, I don’t regret it.

2:04-3:06 p.m. Shuttle our Squad to the International terminal.  Moving 50 people takes some time…

3:51 p.m. Arrive at gate.

4:12 p.m. Go on the hunt for tampons.  Can’t find any.  My teammate suggests Huggies, Newborns.  TMI?  #sorrynotsorry

4:31-5:27 p.m.  People watch.  All I have to say is that there are people even weirder than me…  Kim. why did you hug a pillar?

5:53 p.m. Call the family for final goodbyes.

5:54-6:00 p.m. Stare at ceiling.

6:01-6:22 p.m. Play the guitar.  Only 3 minutes until boarding!

6:23 p.m. Flight cancelled. Uhh it was just on time a minute ago??

6:24 p.m. Laugh because what else would happen to a Racer?

6:25-6:59 p.m. Have our Logistic-ers figure out what to do.

7:00-7:47 p.m. Search for Jackie’s missing bag. Secretly thank God that only one bag was missing and it wasn’t mine.  (I’m not proud of this).

7:48-11:22 p.m. Do literally nothing.  Just wait for the shuttle.

11:23 p.m. Arrive at the hotel. Drop bags in the room and go straight to eat.

11:24-11:29 p.m. Eat a Cali Chicken sandwich.  Realize I miss living in LA.  Tear up at the thought of not having Avocado for 11 months.

11:30 p.m.- 12:00 a.m. Contemplate why I am so tired after sitting all day.

12:03 a.m. Climb into bed.  Immediately pass out.

9:45 a.m. Shower- think “Wow, I’m going to miss these.”

10:00 a.m. Squad meeting.  We still don’t know how or when we are leaving the country.

10:37 a.m. Breakfast Buffet.  I quickly decide I love flight delays, Qatar Airways, and the Good Lord for blessing me with one last American Breakfast.

12:31 p.m. Get a text saying we have 10 minutes to get downstairs with our packs.

1:45 p.m. Arrive at International Terminal.  Sit and play guitar.  Wonder if this is the best I’ll smell all year.

2:03 p.m. Qatar Airways FINDS Jackie’s bag!!! Praise Jesus. How they lost it without it leaving the airport is beyond me but, hey, at least it’s back.

4:08 p.m. Arrive at gate.  Debate what to blog about.

4:16-5:07 p.m. Write a blog that is not only pointless, but dry.

5:08 p.m. Decide to post said blog.

5:09 p.m. Thank everyone for making it this far in the blog.  Your steadfastness is appreciated- I promise to write something more witty and interesting next time.
