Since October was the last time I posted a blog, I figured it was about time that I sent an update about my journey haha. Here we go!

1) Launch Date

I will officially be leaving America on July 3rd! That’s ONE MONTH away! It’s kinda crazy timing, because our squad will be leaving our country behind at a time when we honor it most. However, we’ll find some unique way to celebrate our beloved ‘Murica during the airplane ride that doesn’t include sparklers or black cats.

2) Route Change

Great News! None of my countries changed. Even Better News! They’ve been arranged in a better order! As of now, my route is Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, Romania, Moldova, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. I’m stoked about this change, as the weather should be relatively warm all year round!

3) My Team

I’M ON AN ALL FEMALE TEAM AND I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT! Not that guys are bad, but an all female team has such a fun dynamic to it. It’s like our own little Christian sorority, which I am totally down with.  But, our team decided that we do not want to conform to gender roles, so we very quickly (and actually it was our first & only suggestion) chose a team name: Gladiators. We are a team who publicly supports and fights for a cause – to bring glory to our Lord and Savior. [side note: we do plan on bringing a Russell Crowe poster to spur us on!]

Team Gladiators (from L to R): Lindsay Sherburn, Jackelyn Mead, LeAnn Wright, Naomi Demmon, Me, Amanda Patchin. You can check out all of our blogs on the left most side of my page!

4) Fundraising

To all of my supporters, you have been more than generous to me! I am well along my way to being fully funded. After combining my official World Race account with an external support account, you have helped me raise $12,600 towards this journey. That means that I am only $3700 away from being fully funded. I cannot thank you all enough for the blessing you have been to me and how your support has continued to renew my faith that I am walking in God’s will.

One of my WR trainers spoke of fundraising at training camp last week: “Work like it depends on you, BUT trust like it depends on God.” Even before he captured it so well, this has been my mantra throughout this process. We are to be good stewards of the time, energy and resources given to us, but we step back to let God ‘do his thing.’ And He does!
